Yes and if you looked at the link she believed she contracted cancer by inhaling toxic particles after the 9/11 attack in New York City. And that is something I would suspect as well as I'm sure there were numerous cancer causing agents in the particulate matter in the air. It also makes me wonder if there is a study being conducted ... lets say on 911 staff that were there and spent time at ground zero. Never mind the average citizen of NYC that were there at the time and were breathing the air over a period of time coming down with cancer. Would also be interesting to see if there is a study on them to see if there is a substantial increase in cancer. I'm sure that at a minimum there is a substantial increase in lung related problems.

here's 1 article - but --- there is a financial motive to these results - this article seems pretty grounded and the results seemed reasonable considering...
If I lived there -i'd have left the area for a while and/or used a quality particulate mask... for a long time after... just in case

Well I'm not sure if I would have stayed at all. To many if buts and ands.
But What the link said is no real surprise to me. And no telling what if there will be any side affects to children born after 911...staggers the mind at the possibility's.

i never thought about that. all i ever think about is the towers coming down and all the lives lost that way. i never thought of other ways after the fact. make me think now. i do that on occasion.

Candie, yes I can understand how many think of that day and that lives lost or those lost in the weeks that followed...for many of us even here in Canada is was a day that many will never forget. I was in fact here at home with my ex wife (yes were still the best of friends and was over for coffee) and I said wonder what the temp is outside and turned on the TV. And as it came on we saw the 2nd aircraft hit the tower. So yes its that and the constant replays on TV of that tragic day that stays in everyone's minds.
Now some like myself that worked in the medical world for 26 years or work in the medical world now may have had thoughts of the long term implication of "what" may have been in the particulate matter that was in the air for days if not weeks. The long term effects can be far reaching not just to the generation that was there but to generations to come.
Just think of places where, plants have contaminated city's, homes built on contaminated soil that we have all heard about and the effects its had on generations.
Yes the after effects of that honorably day I think will be felt for generations to come..collateral damage I believe are politically correct words (at least it was in my days in the military)....
Sobering thought isn't it?
Oh and pass the wine please...
