Shortly after noon on 10 April, 1912, the RMS Titanic was tugged away from the dock at Southampton on it's maiden voyage.

The only expert I need to be is...she hit an ice burg, she sank with a "huge loss of life".
The tragedy if it all. I always think when there is loss of a life, what may have been .....

As with Vimy Ridge the that was 95 years ago yesterday that I'm sure many Americans know very little about...Vimy that forged Canada as a nation.
The battle was fought 9 to 12 April 1917..casualties and loss of Canadian lives in those 4 days was 10,602 casualties: 3,598 killed and 7,004 wounded.
Five years later and the Titanic titanic sinks....what if.....
One of those killed was involved in the design of the Titanic and saw the flaw in her ....
Yes the what if's......

I expect most Americans have never heard of it. But as you know, I'm half Canuck. Members of my family fought in the South Alberta Light Horse, Calgary Rifles, South Saskatchewan, Winnipeg Rifles, The Royal Montreal, and the Van Doos. I'm still trying to identify the other CEF units family members were in.

Yes I sure know you are. The South Alberta Light Horse (RC) is a proud regiment that I can say that I was honored serve in as a reservist prior to joining the Medical Corps of the regular force.
Thanks for mentioning my old unit as it brings back many fond memories :)
As a mater of fact Lieutenant-Colone David Vivian Currie a Victoria Cross winner is related to a very close friend of mine. We both severed together. Its a small world in away. Two guys from opposite ends of the country and they have association through history and the Regiment.

Oh and here I thought you were messing about Rude.
No Sunk your right my learned friend ..... the Carpathia was sunk by a German U-boat but not the cause of the US declaring war. During the First World War, Carpathia was used to transfer Canadian and American troops to Europe. She was sunk on 17 July 1918.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMS_Carpathia
It was in fact the sinking of the Lusitania and the loss of a large number of US lives is what caused the US to enter the war. She was sunk by a U-boat on May 7, 1915
http://history1900s.about.com/cs/worldwari/p/lusitania.htm
http://www.history.com/videos/u-boats-sink-the-lusitania-in-1915#u-boats-sink-the-lusitania-in-1915
Yes I had to do my research for the dates but I did know its was the Lusitania.
Just had to edit this once again after reading your reply Sunk. I had Rudy's reply in mind as well. So I had to change some wording. I had put down that you were wrong but in fact you were right in regards to the Carpathia being sunk by a U-boat. I had in mind that you were saying it was the Carpathi's sinking that caused the US to enter the war. If that now makes sense to you lol
