with every new technology there are security and other concerns - exactly why we should have areas to discuss and post safe and reliable apps - such as virus checkers firewalls and app malware checkers...

they are out there and for people who just get these neat lightweight on the go tools... it's a must to have a place to go that they trust --

Lets just go over what there tools - a smartphone or a tablet are...
Tablets - the low cost ones are just ereaders that were kicked up to more functionality by consumer demand - most can be rooted and made even more function-able than the hardware manufacturer wants - cuz they want to sell you their next model instead... So, Low priced tablets have their limits.

Low priced tablets can also be enhanced by the apps installed on them - to do things like play online streaming tube vids... even if the version of droid is not able to include that function... look to see that your version is above 2.2 - they all have cute bakery name - which makes it harder to search for -- and android is part of Google - which also makes it hard to find nonandroid -market apps easily with a google search... plus you need to get a markup and a key when you develop an app from google (but - with every key-gen system there is bound to be a way - but that would add risk to the use of that app)

Yes this is a new technology but what it already can do is with an expensive phone or tablet you can replace a gps, a laptop, a tv remote, a dvd player, a digital camera, hand held game player, and pretty much any other stand alone
electronic device as well as be online 24/7/365 as long as you have battery and a data plan or wi-fi connection.... The Addiction of the Internet is just gonna boom from here on out...

There are Security concerns - sine we live online now - we bank, we shop, we communicate every personal bit of info, we soon will have healthcare connected fully... So yes it is something to think about - again what you put at risk - where is up to you - there are ways to protect your privacy b4 you even go online - that system is up to you to set - up first.... then what you put at risk - might be somewhat limited... all that takes work and thought b4 you start...

Most people want to get it and go..... Again - this is why a section addressing this area has value - both to present Rudies and potential Rudies...

Being most of us - me at least - will buy the lower end units - I won't pay $500 - but I will pay less than $100 and did... Got a unit with front and back cams and... but more on that later.... The point is even lower cost units will provide alot of usefulness to a Rudie - for onsite fun... and for general internet benefits- from couponing to general info to maps to Instant messages... You don't even need a 3g or 4g data plan - wi-fi or mi-fi is cheapest...

But tables differ from smart phones - at least the lower end ones - they are smart ereaders that can surf the web and use phone apps - but the tablets do not have of the hardware functionality of the smart phones - therefor it is harder to have access to things like the official Android Marketplace...

So where do you get apps you can try and trust?

You get lost in the non-android marketsites - are they safe - when you can't download the apps you need from the Official Marketplaces and your only other choice is to find a third party to get them....

I think iIt would be way more popular than the Games section - which if you have not visited does have some fun stuff there too - but an apps section I think would be helpful too - It could be a new way to relaunch RUDE-TV - focused on Droid technology - It would be great Promotion... and a great benefit to membership...

Those people who want to deny this "change" is happening or worthwhile - most likely the same ones who thought Cd's were a fad, or the Walkman was a joke... and they never flly understand the real power of the computer - which the tablets kinda bring full circle back to the early computer days when you wrote programs(apps) small because of limited storage space... kinda like now with this technology - but that is one aspect that is changing fast - and the lower prices for the improved models is a very good sign for the future of this technology.

To those who don't like these things - fine enjoy camping by the campfire - there is peace with that lifestyle too... To the rest of US... who like new things and the opportunity they present... now is the time its affordable and worthwhile to get in a learn about it all... its gonna be an exciting ride - fast and furious - and there are millions of people creating apps already - and there are billions left to create with just as many people who want them ;-}} imo ;-}
