Theme Song

Theme Song
10:57PM on November 20, 2008

Is there a song that plays in our mind when you walk down the street that makes you feel your "swagga"?  One that plays when you are working?  Working out? Having sex?  What would you consider some of your life's theme songs?

For whatever reason, when I'm walking in a nice pair of heel with my hair in the breeze, I find my head palying Prince's "Kiss".  lol  I'm not the gym type but when i'm stretching, sometimes the song "Beautiful" by Me'Shell Ndegeocello will soothe me.  When I gamble... I turn into a rapper and go into hustla mode.  lmao   by
"Tales of a Hustla" by Beanie Sigel has me wanting to grab my imaginary penis.  I hide it well because I'm a lady but you can see it in the way I throw the dice.  When it comes to sex, it could be anything.

There is not 1 particular song that I think encompasses me completely but for some strange reason, Alanis Morrissette seems to have experiences in simpatico to my own.

I wonder if you'll have to think about it or if it happens so frequently that you already know.  lol  This blog was inspired by CalifStyles.  He was attempting to jumpstart my thought processes.  Thanks Calif!

Comments and stars are always appreciated.  If you find that you like my blogs please consider favoriting them.

Melodic thoughts,

ok, i totally feel you on this subject, i move around with my ipod all day, at the gym, at work when i can, etc. first song i have to have usually in the car is Brothers Gonna Work it Out just to get me started with my day, some Grover Washington Jr. for afternoon driving, some Jay Z or most any hip hop for the gym to kick my butt, some Coltrane, Miles, Roy Ayers or slow Janet Jackson for cool down, late nite mode and deep club music on a Friday or Saturday nite reminscing on my clubbin' nites. i always need music.

Good post. My theme music would be "Can't Knock the Hustle" by Jay-Z. I'm usually the youngest and only minority in these corporate exec meetings and I get funny looks sometimes. Then I kill em w/ the knowledge and confidence and they half the respect me. "I'm the future n*gga, what you can't see the facts" 2nd song - Everyday I'm Hustlin (Remix) Rick Ross

My theme music is "Ain't hard to tell" by NAS. I think it is the greatest rap song of all time. It hypes me up and chills me down at the same time. Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a culturalist, artist, dancer, and spiritual person music is an intergral part of my life. Itz in my genes/jeans, as they say. LOL I listen to many forms and I try to bring the elements of musical expression to my audio/video work, as a way to further express ideas, concepts, feelings, and points of view... Butt hey, datz juz' me... ;D

Well, when i'm walking down the street the songs that come to mind depend on my mood and on what i've been listening to latelly... there's always those songs that one can't get out of the head no mather how much one tries. As to making love songs there's 2 that jump out at me, the Marilyn Manson versions of "Sweet Dreams" and "Tainted Love" There's not one song that really describes me... there's a more or less recent song that described me back when i was a kid - Metallica's "Invisible kid" (i was and still am a bit shy) - and there's another one that doesn't really describe at all but with wich i identify for some reason - Garbage "Cherry Lips" Gr8 blog btw Mistress ^_^

Wow, this is thought provoking TQ. as you know I like (love) music. All kinds, but I think there is a special place in my heart for the blues. The tone of the music depends on what is happening or where I want to go at that moment. I probably spend too much time with music if that is possible. :)

I have so many song that I like but only a few I can say have that extra beat that gives my internal drive a boost. As for those songs are: Mary J. Blige's- Family Affair which makes my day at the gym a bit more invigorating. I also would have to say that whenever I am with a girl romanticly sitting on the couch, there is only two song that plays in my heart and thats Al Green- Lets Stay Together or Marvin Gayes - Lets Get it On, but the song thats really puts me in the mood for sex is, Phil Collins- One More Night...

Mellifluous comes to mind as I consider your thoughts here, TQ. Thank you for the "props." (I'm still trying to get a handle on the slang.) Smokey Robinson wrote most of the soundtrack to my life. For example, when I engage Ms Bambie in relationship conversations, I hear Mary Wells singing "Two Lovers." (Written by Smokey, of course.) The Miracles' Smokey Robinson-penned tunes Bad Girl and My Girl Has Gone remind me of my teen years as a gang-banging, straight-A student - a not uncommon contradiction. I kept losing girlfriends because I was never "one" me. Moody is what I was called; I suppose that I am. I don't gamble, really, but I take lots of chances (it's what entrepreneurs do). For that trait, Yesterlove fits (inspired by Paul McCartney's classic, Yesterday). Making love (or just making out): You Can Depend On Me. Street scene? Holly from the cd, Smokey. Feeling my Black Panther Party fangs? Just My Soul Responding. Affirmation? I Second That Emotion. Begging up on a piece? Choosey Beggar. I've been a pimp, hustler, sugardaddy and strong-arm in my 58 years and Curtis Mayfield's Superfly speaks to that collective experience. I am now a polyamor and swinger so Leon Haywood's "I Wanta Do Something Freaky To You" is apropos. Great blog, as usual, TQ. You have all of my stars, oh Queen of Rude (as Bestchoc put it). Sensualists, RISE! (shhhhhhhh)

Funny you mention this toppic. I caught myself humming "Walking on Sunshine" the other day. I was strolling through the parking lot, at work, as I was going home. The song that goes through my mind when I'm with my girlfriend is " I Don't Want to Miss a Thing". The song that best describes me is a Garth Brooks song "I'm Much to Young to Feel This Damn Old".
