Internet RSS feeds

I have been so naive. I thought what I put on rude stayed on rude and its sister sites. I was wrong. When I first joined rude I was assured that what was on here stayed on here. I was worried my family would find me but was reassured. It seems I was wrong. When Rude first started it did not have RSS feeds. Now it does and I am told that these feeds are available to anyone, which means anyone can get to my stuff, whether its my videos pictures even my board posts and blogs. I have been so stupid. I now have to think hard about what to post and whether I should take all my content down and edit all my posts. I would really like to know what your thoughts are on this. Please leave a comment and let me know

Thank you for your posts peter - It does help clear things up a bit more - there are some on rude here that post things that make you wonder - if only they would explain them better instead of long winded complicated ways that lay persons dont understand - he has in fact posted a lot of things lately that make me wonder why I am on this site-but then he is so up the owners back side makes me wonder if he is getting paid by them to promote rude. I am not liking the way rude has changed from a like minded friendly community to a money orientated site - it has lost its spirit and Im not sure if it will get it back, its just not fun for me any more and I know others feel the same way. I just wish they would take note of those that post their feelings instead of shooting them down as I have been in the past- I remain here for the time being but not sure for how much longer

just noticed your response to bigdaddy, and just wanted to add that the embeds do not contain links to the rss feeds, nor are the rss feeds for rude on any public list ive ever checked, and while a producer is free to use their rss links to promote themselves, im not aware of rude posting the rss feed anywhere to promote the site.....P.S. sorry i didnt see this blog post sooner, i really hope my responses were unneeded and you already have all the answers you need and arn't still stressed over this issue

Hi Chesty, i'm not sure if I understand your worries correctly, but here are a few things that may make you feel better. Firstly, Im not sure what you mean by "available to anyone" yes anyone with the address to your rss feed and a newsreader program can subscribe to your rss, but the feeds are not something someone is going to randomly stumble upon, they would have to get the feed address from your page, or subscribe to the feed directly from your page. so its really more like available to anyone that goes to your page. Secondly, this is not your content being available someplace else, but a notification system about content, the feeds are on rudes server, and for rudes rss feeds the only content is text, sometimes a cover pic, and a link to the page here on rude that contains the actual content, its basically another way of letting your fans know when you post something, similar to the rudemail that's sent out for new content except for the delivery method. lastly, the rss feeds do not give access to anything that person cannot already access, just to the same page they would get from normally browsing rude, so for example if they subscribe to the rss feed for your flix, the links in the feed would just take them to the page to purchase that flix. ok, this is getting long so i'll shut up now, but I hope that clears things up a little, if you need more info feel free to ask, i dont claim to know everything about them, but i use rss feeds daily

I am not sure what RSS is. I have seen it around but not sure what it is. Hope you don't leave over this :(

Mr Big they wont be changing it - its how they get themselves out there on the net - the RSS is on everything - check for yourself. I am told that only those who are here can add the feeds but I am thinking those from embeds etc must be able to add it to their browsers too. Just worries me a bit how anyone can keep track of your feeds this way

I'm really not liking that AT ALL!!!! Is Rude going to address this? There has to be some sort of privacy being that i remember being assured too, but sometimes I do still find random vids that were stolen from my page. There was even some moron that posted one of my flix in his free vids and was dumb enough to add me as a buddy after i left a comment to remove MY video from his page. My lady and I are going to have to discuss this, if in fact Rude doesn't plan to do anything at all!

Wow, your first sentence had me worried as well. I can understand that you want privacy. You have to do what is best for you.

That is why I never use a credit card online and never have put a picture of myself online. Nothing on the Internet is private. Only recently since my retirement have I started talking more about myself..

if its privacy you want,i guess rude is no longer the place to get it. so do what you feel is best for u. u can keep in touch with friends u made here outside of rude through personal private email. rude has changed so much, its not a community anymore, its a fukn fukn free for all. you shouldnt have any concerns, issues, or feel violated..nor should any web site be able to break your confidence or jeopordize your privacy. you r the number 1 priority. do what you feel is best.true friends will understand and support your decision.

I don't really understand much about RSS. But I have always operated under the belief that anything I post online or anything I send someone might find it's way anywhere. Once it leaves your computer you no longer have control over it. Therefore I use caution here, on other sites, and even on my own sites. As I understand RSS, in the big picture it probably does not change much. It just makes it a bit easier for people to get what is already available if they want it.
